Barcelona Export, by the hand of Isabel Garcia, participates as a speaker at the Entrepreneurship Week organized by the Maresme County Council (Consell Comarcal del Maresme).

For the ninth consecutive year, the Maresme County Council (Consell Comarcal del Maresme) organizes the Entrepreneurship Week in the Maresme. The main objective of this week is to offer free training sessions for all entrepreneurs who are going to start a new business or are in the process of being launched.

Throughout this week, many courses, seminars and workshops will be organized every day. They will be in the hands of experts and professionals with a very interesting background. This event is also aimed at self-entrepreneurs and companies that need to improve or to change a strategic line of their business, as well as all those who have a particular interest in this area.

On 28/11/2017 at 12:00, we will give our training session entitled “How to start exporting economically”. We will begin with a discussion of the basics of the export process, with reference to the most relevant aspects to consider. And also some tips to optimize the search for information and have good business prospects.

Barcelona Export participates at the meeting of Teixidores d’Idees, a meeting aimed to entrepreneurs or directors women of the Maresme region, organized by the Fagem at the hotel Atenea de Mataró on Thursday 11/23/2017.

What did we discover during this day?

During the session, we attended the presentation of Toton Comella, the highest representative of intimate women’s fashion in Spain. A woman that knows how to revolutionize the world of swimwear and feminine intimate clothing by incorporating combinations of textiles that until now no one had dared to work with: lycra-cotton. She changed the intimate fashion patterns, creating a powerful international brand of recognized prestige as it has been with TCN. These fabrics are today fully integrated into our everyday uses.

After having sold the company and having been director and owner of her company during her whole professional career, she offers us a series of discussions about the woman role in the business life and the price they have to pay to hold responsibilities as well in the professional life as in the private life and about how hard it is to combine both to find the right balance.

This type of meeting promotes women’s networking, besides putting in common the issues that professional women face in today’s society:

– Work-life balance
– Sexual harassment
– Discrimination for gender reasons
– Lack of equal pay for the same tasks
– Same education, etc.

Barcelona Export visits the Girona Gastronomical Forum 2017

The Girona Gastronomical Forum closes its door with a new public success and the big satisfaction of the participating companies.

More than 25 000 people visited the exhibition during the three days of this food trade fair. Moreover, it has been announced that the next edition of the Gerona Gastronomic Forum will be held on November 18, 19 and 20 of 2018.

What does the Girona Gastronomical Forum offer?

A forum full of people, companies and activities to discover. Barcelona Export visited the event to find food companies interested in exporting their products and was able to confirm the high gastronomic quality of our region. Participation has increased by more than 30% since the 2015 edition, with more than 25,000 visitors.

What was its outcome?

We appreciated the satisfaction of the exhibitors, like the former and loyal participants who are exhibiting at the Forum year after year, as well as newcomers who for the first time wanted to participate on the event, which has been considered as a great form of promotional platform.

International Opportunities of the Forum

Companies have also been able to do business and conclude many commercial transactions, especially at the international level, thanks to the reverse missions in which buyers from the Nordic countries were interested in the products present at the Forum.

Other interesting information

Von Arend also wanted to point out that the fair is the largest event where all sectors of the catering and hospitality industry are represented. In total, more than 250 companies. Additionally, they pointed out that the exhibition space has been very dynamic at all times, since during the three days the stands haven’t stopped to offer activities. Especially, sessions such as those given by Joan Roca, Andoni Luis Adúriz and Paco Pérez, in the Auditori, recorded nearly a thousand people each.

Our consultancy is present in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2017  to give assistance and accompany one of our clients, custom software developer and with its own QA department (Quality Assurance).

Smart City Congress takes place once a year in Barcelona, from the 14th to 16th of November 2017, in its fairground in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona. A large representation of companies, start-ups and public administrations attend the event in order to jointly develop tools, applications, new services in multiple areas that help improve the quality of life of the citizens of, the increasingly populated, cities of the world.

Smart City World Congress 2017, Barcelona

We also had the opportunity to participate in the Brokerage Event where more than 1264 meetings were arranged and 400 companies from 38 different countries participated. It has been a pleasure to meet companies of very varied products and technologies that needed our services to expand their business internationally.

Among the most novel exposed products that we have had occasion to discover are geolocation applications that include a multiple of measurable parameters, such as pollution, the presence of gases, humidity, etc. Open data applications to provide cities with a multitude of applications that contain valuable information for citizens: bus schedules, hospitals, concerts, garbage collection calendar, taxes, etc gathered under a single application. Drones that help to measure the architectural parameters of a building under construction, energy efficiency applications, test circuits for cars of the future, independent and self-driving, windows that contain photovoltaic panels to store solar energy and give autonomy to the homes.

The sales agents meeting in Paris between Spanish metallurgical companies and French agents is coming to the end

On October the 9th of 2017, Barcelona Export organized a B2B meeting between French independent sales agents and Spanish companies from the metallurgical sector.

Of whom does it consist?

Organized in Paris, this meeting has allowed 10 national companies, members of the Plametall metallurgical cluster to meet more than thirty French idependant sales agents which had been selected previously, according to their profile (Read our article B2B meetings between companies and independent sales agent).

What are its objectives?

The purpose of this day was clear: initiate the entry of those companies on the French market by permitting them to meet their future commercials partners in a professional setting, but also more informal, around coffee breaks and meals offered by Barcelona Export, in order to create contact and establish the foundations of a trustworthy relationship.

Which type of companies participates?

All along the day, French independent sales agents from the industrial and metallurgical sectors have been meeting companies specialized in:

– Industrial air filtration systems
– Industrial structures for civil engineering and grand dimension boilerwork
– Conditioning and positioning systems for plastic flasks and bottles
– Forest work and gardening machines
– Laser cut and metals manufacture
– Fixations systems, anchors, screws, and personalized products
– Accessories for cutting and surface-treating tools or machines
– Scales, working platforms and custom-made scaffolds
– Welded and calibrated tubes of very high precision and very low steel diameter
– Special and custom-made profiled bars, hot-rolled and stretched under cold conditions

Final results

In total, more than 55 interviews have been led and almost ten independent sales agents contracts are already on-going after a week.

– Export diagnostic of the company

During this initial phase, a SWOT analysis of the company is lead in order to detect potential opportunities. Each aspect and department of the company is examined : allocated human and financial resources, knowledge and production capacity, awareness and knowledge of international markets, …

– Definition of the commercial strategy in the targeted country and definition of the distribution channels

The soon-to-export company and Barcelona Export will explore together the international sales strategy to adopt and define the best entrance channel in the new market regarding its own characteristics and the exported product/service’s ones. The entrance may be direct (selling directly to the final customers) and/or indirect (through distribution channels or multi-card independent sales agents), that’s why it is essential to adapt the sales strategy in order to find the perfect combination.
